Graduate of the University of Auckland Jazz School — Me Kai Ella’s style and influence stems from many genres. From Bebop and Trad stylings to Neo-Soul and Funk, to Alt-Rock and Classic Musical Theatre.
As a musician, they perform as a solo musician or accompanied in larger ensembles, from piano duos to quartet features. They are the frontman of 3 projects; Piece of Mind, KALOULA, and The Manfrd Project.
As a theatre practitioner, they’re currently editing and writing their original musical ‘On Replay’ in 2 acts, which they have workshopped twice since its first preview in 2022 at Harlequin Theatre, Howick.
They’re currently signed with Collaborate as an actor, and work as a producer, director and designer for companies such as Factory Theatre and Stray Theatre Company.
They are also a freelance illustrator and designer under the pseudonym Em at AzureSparkz Art. They specialize in character design and brand development and currently work as a designer for authors Jenifer Wood and Karla Doyle.

The Prettiest Pop Punk Band on the scene!
Piece of Mind are a 4 piece Alt-Rock band inspired by the likes of Mom Jeans, Mother Mother, blink-182 & Paramore based in Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland.
From upbeat fun covers that get the crowd going to powerful and moving originals, they pride themselves on their energy and being the self proclaimed “prettiest pop-punk band on the scene”.

Ensemble: A Cabaret!

Mikaela is absolutely stoked to be making their AMT debut in Ensemble: A Cabaret!
"Ensemble" is a devised cabaret that will bring together a contrasting range of ensemble pieces from lesser-known and new musical theatre shows and song cycles.
In this cabaret the traditional lead performer structure is replaced by a collaborative ensemble approach, whereby each performer will be in both leading and supporting roles, showcasing and utilizing the whole cast's versatility and talents.

The Spirit of Waiheke Seaside Christmas Carols

The Spirit of Waiheke Trust Cottage,
92 The Esplanade, Surfdale,
Waiheke IslandChristmas carols at the sea side, with sausage sizzles, local food trucks and beautiful baked goods; along with performances from local students and artists, all to raise funds for children in need on Waiheke.
MeKaiElla is pleased to help fundraise for the Spirit for Waiheke Trust again this year, and will be singing with the Sister Shout and Old Spice Boys choirs, then performing a solo Jazz set to wrap up the evening from 5.30-6pm.A wonderful way to bring in the festive season, and great fun for the whole family to enjoy!
Tickets $10 for adults, children are free.Please bring cash to purchase items and BYO drinks.
